Manchester Half Marathon 2024 · 13 October 2024 ·

On Sunday 13th October, our supporters will take on the Manchester Half Marathon to give help and hope to everyone living with dementia. A huge thank you to all the incredible runners going the extra mile for Alzheimer’s Society!

Story

My maternal Grandad was a sweet hearted, hard working, gentle man with a really silly side & wacky sense of fun.

In his later years he developed Alzheimers and we watched him slowly slip away into confusion, isolation & silence.

My Grandmother spent her last years doing all she could to support him whilst dealing with the personality changes and stresses like his getting lost walking home from the shops, forgetting where he lived.

My Mum especially but also my Dad, my Brother & I all had our hearts broken frequently, until he finally slipped away.

The Alzheimer’s Society is dedicated to creating a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. Their mission is to provide support for those currently living with dementia and to offer hope for the future.

I've committed to participating in the Manchester Half Marathon in 2024 as a personal challenge and a source of motivation during my training.

I invite you to join me in supporting the incredible work of the Alzheimer's Society and help keep me motivated as I prepare for this challenge
