Story

In May 2019, my mum (Ali) was diagnosed with Secondary Breast Cancer. She underwent Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy, however, these were unsuccessful and she passed away in August. This was extremely devastating for the entire family, losing such a pivotal member. She was the most inspirational person I knew and was so brave throughout her entire treatment. Mum really was someone you could turn to at any time. With her by your side you never felt alone whatever the struggles were, because she was always there for you 🤍

In 2021, my sister (Bex) was diagnosed with Breast cancer. This was a complete shock and something we didn’t see coming, thankfully it was caught early and she had surgery and an intense cycle of Chemotheraoy. In 2022, she received the all clear. We cried and celebrated and thought we were finally over another hurdle.

In 2023, Bex was diagnosed with Secondary Breast Cancer, this being Stage 4. We had no words and no explanations, we all felt lost and hopeless. In January 2024, we were informed that her cancer was now terminal and this had spread to her Skin, liver and bones. Bex is still undergoing treatment today.

I don’t only speak for myself, but at some point we have all known or loved someone who has been diagnosed with cancer.

Just recently we received more devastating news about Bex’s cancer and we’ve all felt / are feeling incredibly hopeless. What can you really say or do? When someone you love is battling every single day?

I’ve wanted to do this challenge for a while, but always put it off, but this year I’m going for it along with Sam (my husband) who is going to support me every step of the way.

We feel that this is our way of doing something and pushing ourselves to our limits and giving something back. If we can raise this money we are helping someone’s family and friends get through.

MacMillan have helped my sister through some challenging days and assisted with counselling and self care which on a good day has helped her feel just a little better.

Please could you help us in raising £500, no matter how big or small, we’d both hugely appreciate it.

Let’s beat cancer together 🤍💚
