Story
In December 2024, our lives changed forever when I was diagnosed with TTP. Since then, the kindness, expertise, and encouragement of Queen's Hospital Birmingham and the TTP Network have meant so much to me and my family. I am deeply grateful for the care and support we have received, and I now want to give something back by taking part in the 2026 TTPNetwork Side by Side Walk on 26 September 2026.
TTP is a serious, rare, and potentially life-threatening condition. It affects only 1 to 6 people in every million, and many patients may face more than one episode after their first diagnosis. It happens when the ADAMTS13 enzyme does not work as it should, which can lead to small blood clots in the blood vessels, a low platelet count, and the destruction of red blood cells. In acquired TTP, it is not always known what causes the body to begin producing antibodies against ADAMTS13. Symptoms can vary widely and may include fever, fatigue, headache, confusion, and bruises or dots on the skin.
By walking with the TTPNetwork community, I hope to raise awareness, show support to others affected by TTP, and help ensure that more people receive the understanding and care they need. The TTPNetwork Side by Side Walk is a chance for us to stand together, share hope, and make a real difference.
I would be incredibly thankful if you could support my fundraising target of GBP 200. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help strengthen this important cause and bring us one step closer to making a positive impact for everyone affected by TTP. Please donate if you can, and walk alongside us in spirit as we take these steps together.
