Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At the grand old age of 50 I've decided to take part in my first ever Triathlon - A Super Sprint. This will include a 450m open water swim, 20km bike ride and a 4km run. I've done plenty of cycling but I'm definitely a novice when it comes to open water swimming and running - Just getting through it will be success to me.
I'm raising money in memory of 3 amazing ladies who lost their lives in 2023 to cancer. First was Ruth Marinfeld, who was my group scout leader and overall phenomenal scout who gave all her time helping young people and leaders to excel in the world of scouting. Secondly was Claire Seed, my sister in law. A wife to my brother and stepmum to his children for just 18 months but part of our family for 8 years. As I always say, a woman that brought love, life and laughter to Carls world. And finally, my friend Victoria Percival, friends for over 20 years. Wife, mother, daughter, aunt and our friend who we miss terribly. We miss them all!
Today’s science. Tomorrow’s breakthroughs.
In 2022/23 Cancer Research UK committed £398m to fund new research proposals, and spent £415m on new and ongoing research in the year.
This funding supports infrastructure and world-class research institutes and provides grants for investigator-led programmes, projects and training fellowships.
Together we are beating cancer.
