Story

On the 7th September 2024, we sadly lost our wonderful Dad/Grandad, Harry Warner, who passed peacefully under the care of the wonderful team at St John’s Hospice. From the minute we arrived at St John’s, it felt like a home from home and all of the comforts Dad/Grandad had longed for in hospital, were instantly put in place and he was given the care and dignity he deserved.

St John’s also looked after the whole family and allowed us to be there when it mattered the most. We were offered a family room with a bed and shower for those times when you didn’t want to leave and a private room at the end, which looked out into their beautiful gardens. This, alongside their family play room, even allowed the children to say goodbye to “Great Dar” without any fear and play on his patio where he could hear their voices. St John’s thought of everything to support every single member of our family and we are forever grateful.

Only around 25% of the wonderful work at St John’s is funded by the NHS and it’s hard to believe that such a wonderful place is reliant on fundraising to survive. We hope that by taking part in the St John’s Hospice Cross Bay Walk that we can help give something back and say a huge thank you for what they did for Dad/Grandad and the many other families they help on a daily basis.

Thank you for your support.
