Story
Our lovely Dad and Grandad, Deacon Peter Lavery, recently lost his very brave but very short battle with a brain tumour. Just 8 difficult weeks from symptoms to passing.
This September marks a year since we lost him and we want to do something to both honour him and raise money for a good cause.
We're lucky that Dad didn't suffer what a lot of brain tumour patients have to endure. One organisation that was recommended to us was Brainstrust. They give great support to both the patients and their families. There's a great online community attached to it too, which can be invaluable with such a frightening diagnosis.
I started easy with a mile a day in October but our big challenge is the Yorkshire Three Peaks as a family on 14th August this year. If this can help other families going through what we did, then I've done some good.
Here's the info from the charity:
Your kind donations and fantastic fundraising efforts ensures that brainstrust can deliver vital services to support the brain tumour community. Thanks to you, we are able to operate our 24/7 helpline and personalised coaching services 365 days a year. To reach as many people as possible during this isolating period, we are regularly hosting a variety of essential and informative online workshops which can be accessed through our website: brainstrust.org.uk.
