Running has become a big and important part of my life, especially in the last 2-3 years. My journey started by following the couch to 5k programme and I even had to restart this a couple of times due to illnesses and other life things! I wanted to do it as I wanted to become fitter and to feel better in myself. At the start I found it hard, I struggled to run for 60 seconds and nearly gave up on several occasions as I just couldn’t see how I’d ever be able to run for 30 minutes without stopping. But I kept going and trusting the programme. After completing the programme and feeling so proud of myself, I kept up the running, completing a couple of race for life races and joining park run on a weekly basis. Time went on and I wanted to challenge myself further and decided to try for a 10k! This was a massive thing for me but I was so determined to do it. I’ve managed to run a few 10ks on my own but never entered a 10k race so when I saw the Mansfield 10k come up, I knew I had to give it a go! I was approached by Homestart to raise money for their charity and it made it even more worthwhile for me!! A wonderful charity that supports so many families in our community. This is a personal challenge for me whilst raising money for a great cause. Although I’ve not been able to train as often as I’d have liked due to injury, I’m so determined to complete this challenge for myself and the charity. Thank you for reading my story.
