Story

In memory of Mason.

A much loved and missed - Son, Brother, Relative, Friend and inspiration to many.

After facing cancer with an almost unimaginable strength, dignity, and determination this page has been created to continue Mason’s legacy of promoting awareness, raising money and influencing others to “be more Mason” and take on some challenges in his honour.

Mase made one hell of an impact since his brain tumour diagnosis in September 2022.

He underwent surgery, then chemotherapy and radiotherapy for a year.

Although his body was already taking a battering he wanted to turn something negative in to a positive and give himself a focus and purpose to fight and push himself - so in December 2022 he set himself quite a monstrous task of challenges to complete!

First up was the Battersea 5K in February 2023 during the midst of his treatment! Which he completed in 36:59.

Mason then continued to run numerous 10K’s before the Royal Parks Half Marathon in the October - he set himself a goal of 2 hours but finished in 1:48!!! An absolutely incredible time.

From then on there was no stopping him - marathon Mase was born! From London to Prague to Stockholm and onwards.. Raising over £15,000 for Guy’s Cancer Charity and MacMillan.

Mason had aspirations of taking on marathons all over the world, doing a marathon row too and then the big one - climbing Kilimanjaro!

Sadly this all came to a sudden halt when after a routine scan shortly after his latest cycle of treatment had finished, they’d detected another tumour at the frontal lobe and surgery was required again in June 2024. Our hearts were all broken for him.

But in his own words ‘I aim to run again in a few months and if I put my mind to it, I can achieve it’ and he wasn’t wrong - a return to the Royals Parks Half Marathon just 4 months later! Not forgetting he was once again undergoing chemo and radiotherapy. He was super human and we couldn’t have been prouder of him.

Unfortunately Mason’s health started to deteriorate at the start of this year with vision issues and physical problems with balance, but he was adamant he was in good stead and was looking forward to what 2025 had in store.

Radiotherapy finished in March and as always he was very optimistic.

The next few weeks since then seem like a blur - his Mum watched a game of rugby with him at the pub, his friend visited with his young son and they played in the park, his sister spoke to him daily whilst he was cooking dinner (we won’t mention the awful salmon and vinegar pasta!) his surgeon had seen him out and about and was surprised how well he was walking since needing the stick as an aid.. He was seemingly doing remarkably well so it came as a great shock when he suddenly passed on the 23rd March.

Mase - you accomplished BIG things! Your efforts were invaluable, you motivated others and never let your diagnosis define you.

An astounding amount of achievements! From TV appearances, podcasts, radio interviews, social media posts, a visit to Number 10 Downing Street! You name it, you did it!

Most recently an invite to Buckingham Palace that Mum and sister Jade attended on behalf of you where they met the king, showed your picture and shared your story to anyone that would hear it.

Thank you for everything you did. You always reached for the sky whilst living, now may you rest amongst the stars.

We also thank Guy’s for the integral part they played in Mason’s mission. You are a wonderful charity - the personalised care for him, the enhancing support for the cancer team and patients and all of the funding for pioneering new approaches. You transform lives and are simply the best.

Team MM - we’ve got this! It’s our turn now to make our Mase proud.
