Story
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m lucky enough to be running the London Marathon this year for the first time! I’m very excited, but I’ve only ever run half marathons before, so this is going to be quite a shock! But with your help, it will really and truly push me through, and I’m sure it’s going to be a great day.
I work for The Institute of Cancer Research in their biology labs, screening new potential drugs through a variety of experiments to try and confirm their activity against potential new cancer targets. So I know first-hand how expensive it is to fund our research. Below are a few common and essential lab items and their cost, to give you an idea:
Box of 90 pairs of disposable gloves: £10.42
Bag of 50 test tubes: £54.17
Pack of 1000 1.5mL tubes (for all kinds of work): £38.20
Pack of 60 medium-sized cell culture flasks: £55.83
I will continue to add to this list, to try and document the cost of research.
I will be running for our research, for family, friends, friends of family, absent friends and family, colleagues, all patients, future patients.
I also know how times are hard for everyone, and our money certainly doesn’t go as far these days. So I’m asking, if you can spare anything at all - no matter how small you think it may be - to keep funding cancer research, then I, and everyone at the ICR, would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you so much, and look out for me on Sunday 21st April!
Rachel :-)
