Story
Suicide prevention and awareness has always been something I have supported. In my younger years when a classmate died by suicide, we didn't talk about it, it was whispers in the halls. (I will say his name, Mike) Later in life I met an amazing woman who taught me it was okay to speak of suicide and those that have died by suicide. (I will say her name, Joann) At this point, I began to learn more to be a better at making suicide less taboo.
In 2021, suicide unfortunately not only impacted me but all my co-workers and students when a current student died by suicide. (I will say his name, Aidan) The grief completely shattered our school. It left us carrying a heavy weight, trying to support grieving kids while searching for answers to a loss that just didn't make sense.
Now, in 2026, I’m experiencing that crushing heartbreak all over again after losing a former student to suicide. (I will say her name, Raven) To watch another bright, young life vanish is devastating beyond words. It is a painful reminder that too many incredible people are fighting silent battles, and too many bright lights are going out way too early.
We simply can't afford to stay quiet anymore. Every single one of us needs to do our part: check in on the people you love, ask the hard questions when you notice someone pulling away, and truly listen without judgment.
I’m raising money because no one should ever feel like suicide is their only option. Your donation helps fund crisis resources, school programs, and mental health support that can save a life before it’s too late. Please consider donating to help me honor the incredible students we've lost, break the silence, and keep these lights shining.
