Story

RACHEL & MILLIE’S WALKING CHALLENGE

This is a picture of me and Millie in Sri Lanka on the 1st February 2024. We were having the most wonderful time. Little did we know that in a month we would both be seriously ill in hospital. Millie’s horrendous motorbike accident was devastating. She almost lost her leg. I was in pieces.

This terrible trauma probably contributed to my stroke a few days later. That and a hole in my heart!

So we’ve been through a lot in the last few months but we are both very strong women and we determined to get better. We have set ourselves a goal to walk a mile on September 28th in aid of Bristol After Stroke. Quite an ambitious target considering neither of us could even walk a step in April!

We would like to thank all the wonderful people who have supported us through this terrible time.

If you can help by sponsoring us we’d be really grateful it will spur us on with our training .

Here is some information about this wonderful charity -

Locally where we operate in Bristol and South Gloucestershire there are approximately 12,000 people that live with stroke. Over the next year we expect to support around 1,400 individuals and their families and carers across Bristol and South Gloucestershire to rebuild their lives after a stroke. Without our services and support, many people in the area would be left feeling alone, vulnerable and lost after having a stroke. Our clients tell us they feel more confident, less isolated, and, overall, better able to adapt to life after stroke.

Thank you all
