Join us on our Charity Walk and help us to rebuild lives after stroke. We will have a 1 mile accessible walk around Eastville Park, a 3 mile walk and a 6 mile walk along the beautiful Frome Valley Walkway.

Story

This is a picture of me and Millie in Sri Lanka on the 1st February 2024. We were having the most wonderful time. Little did we know that in a month we would both be seriously ill in hospital. Millie’s horrendous motorbike accident was devastating. She almost lost her leg. I was in pieces.

This terrible trauma probably contributed to my stroke a few days later. That and a hole in my heart!

So we’ve been through a lot but we are both very strong women and we determined to get better. Last year we set ourselves a goal to walk a mile for Bristol After Stroke at their walking event. Quite an ambitious target considering neither of us could even walk a step in April 2024!

We would like to thank all the wonderful people who have supported us through our terrible ordeals.

This year I have set myself an even tougher challenge - to walk the 6 mile route. I'm going to attempt it with no walking stick!

If you can help by sponsoring me I'd be really grateful it will spur me on with my training .

Here is some information about this wonderful charity -

A stroke is sudden and shocking and affects every part of your life and is the leading cause of adult disability. A stroke can not only leave people with physical, and sometimes cognitive, difficulties, but they can also be left with low confidence and self-esteem and poor support. Even those without a lasting physical disability will tell you that the impact on their emotional wellbeing, daily life and planning for the future is huge. Without our services and support, many people in the area would be left feeling alone, vulnerable and lost after having a stroke.

Locally where we operate in Bristol and South Gloucestershire there are approximately 12,000 people that live with stroke. Over the next year we expect to support around 1,400 individuals and their families and carers across Bristol and South Gloucestershire to rebuild their lives after a stroke. Our clients tell us they feel more confident, less isolated, and, overall, better able to adapt to life after stroke.
