Story

Happy mind, happy body✨

Back in 2023 I was quite literally forced up a mountain in lake Garda, if you knew me you would know the only physically form of activity I did was putting an alcoholic bevvy to my lips at the weekend, so walking for 8 hours over 12km on an incline of 700ft was quite a struggle, I knew that once I hit the top it was worth it but just went back to being lazy.

Fast forward to the start of last year, I really had hit a wall where I had spent the last year mentally and physically unhappy, I slept more then I was awake when not working and couldn’t stop comfort eating to save my life. On a random Wednesday night I decided that something had to change as I was heading down a truly dark and challenging path, and in that moment binned every sweet treat and started a diet plan incorporating 2 daily walks.

Them daily walks soon turned into something I found enjoyment and really gave me time to reflect on past, current and future decisions. Finding clarity and calmness within them moments gave me a feeling I can not really explain, I guess peace. I started loosing weight and becoming more confident with myself and them late nights partying slowly but surely turned into self care evening at home instead.

Now I find myself at the start of 2025 wanting to incorporate what basically saved me into an achievement, something I can truely be proud off and this leads me on to this walk. I’m going to be walking 100km hopefully within 24 hours to help make dreams come true for children facing critical illnesses at Make-a-wish. This challenge is a way for me to give back and support a cause that brings hope and joy to those in need. Every donation will help grant wishes that provide moments of joy and strength during difficult times. This is important to me as I have been blessed with opportunities through out my life, and I think that these children should be able to have the same opportunities and that they can experience and fulfill their dreams regardless of illness.

Make-A-Wish® UK grant life-changing wishes for thousands of critically ill children across the UK. Sadly, the number of wish enquiries from seriously ill children with less than a year to live is rising fast. They need help to meet this urgent demand now - before it’s too late. For families with critically ill children, every day counts. Your support has the power to make a wish come true for a critically ill child, allowing families to create lasting memories that they will treasure forever – no matter what the future holds.
