I’m swimming 10K to help save lives — will you support me? 🌊💙

On October 10th, I’ll be taking on the Hurly Burly — a breathtaking 10K river swim in Barmouth. It’s going to be cold, long, and tough… but nothing compared to the daily struggles faced by many children around the world when it comes to water safety.

Drowning is the leading cause of death for children under 5 in many countries. It’s heartbreaking — and preventable. That’s why I’m raising funds for an incredible program that teaches vital water safety and swimming skills to children who need it most.

In January, I’ll be travelling to Peru to volunteer with this programme. It runs during the local summer holidays and brings together NGO partners, local volunteers, environmental educators, and surfers to create a powerful community-based initiative.

One of our partners, Otra Cosa Network, supports women and children in Huanchaco and the nearby shantytowns, offering programmes in literacy, environmental education, sport, and girls’ empowerment. Another amazing partner, Boqueron Surf School, helps the poorest children in the area learn to surf — not just for fun, but as a life-saving skill and a tool for confidence and resilience.

This is more than just a swim. It’s a step (or stroke!) towards giving children the chance to grow up safer, stronger, and full of possibility.
