Story
Recently, our friend and colleague very sadly lost his Grand Daughter after a long battle with Wilms' tumour - a type of kidney cancer.
Lexi-Mae was only ten years old and had spent the last four years bravely fighting for her life. During this time, she was cleared of cancer, ringing the bell a total of five times! Five times she and her family celebrated but, after each of those times, they were then given the devastating news that the cancer had returned.
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices helped to make some of Lexi-Mae’s dreams come true. Her family shared in these precious moments creating memories that will never be forgotten. For this reason, we (Lexi-Mae’s Grandad and colleagues) would like to support the Shooting Star Children’s Hospices in the hope that special memories and lots of smiles will be shared among other families like theirs.
Shooting Star Children's Hospices cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families across Surrey and London.
Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, we are here to make every moment count. We support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.
