Story
This April, I’m taking on a slightly ambitious (and possibly slightly chaotic) challenge: doubling my daily steps to raise money for Stockport Community Counselling.
As a youth worker, I’ll be dragging the young people from The Cherry Tree Project out and about with me (fresh air whether they like it or not). At home, I’ll be encouraging—strongly—my family to get outside more too. And as a local councillor, I’ll be putting the extra steps to good use walking the ward, delivering leaflets, and probably reporting more potholes than anyone asked for.
All jokes aside, getting outside, moving your body, and taking a bit of time each day—especially when the sun decides to show up—can make a real difference to your mental health. That’s why I wanted to take on this challenge: to support a brilliant local service that helps people access the support they need, while also encouraging others to get moving in whatever way works for them.
If you’re able to donate, I’d really appreciate it. And if not, consider this your sign to get outside, stretch your legs, and soak up a bit of daylight this April ☀️
Thanks so much for your support!
