Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking part in various events this year, all that will push me out of my comfort zone, focused on improving my strength and health for the long term. Events include:

March - weekly events including a 10 mile race, the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, a gym/ deka style event and the Derby 10k.

Other events: Derby Inflatable Course 5k, Carsington 7+ mile, Smalley 5 Bells, the Robin Hood Half Marathon...and any others that I come across!

Freed Beeches are a charity that are very close to my heart and I have always wanted to give back to them. My beautiful daughter had some difficult years as a teenager after having a serious spinal operation and this gradually led to some intense mental health challenges around food and body image. I reached out for support via the NHS but there was nothing out there for her and I felt such despair and helplessness. I came across Freed on a website and spent the first 30 minutes on a call in tears as I finally felt heard and understood. However, more than anything, they gave me hope that they could help my girl. It was an hour away from home but I would have driven to the end of the world if it meant my baby could be well again.

The support that my daughter was offered from Freed was completely life changing. It wasn't easy, it wasn't always an uphill and I don't think we left the process fully healed but she had the tools to continue the journey alone. It was the start of my daughters path to understanding herself, by compassionately being shown alternative ways of dealing with the thoughts in her head.

This fundraising is to show my gratitude to a small charity that has such a big impact on people's lives. What they do really does make such a difference. Your donations would mean the world to both myself, Lois and to all of those that Freed will help in the future. Thank you!
