Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page!
The Diocese of Manchester is deeply committed to racial justice. This work sits at the centre of who we are and who we are called to be—striving for equality, unity, and inclusion, while courageously confronting the realities of racism in our communities.
Through our Racial Justice Programme, we are working to bring meaningful cultural change across the diocese. Our hope is to become a place where people from Global Majority Heritage backgrounds are fully welcomed, supported, and able to thrive. We want every part of our church life to reflect the beautiful diversity of God’s creation.
In recognition of Stephen Lawrence Day on 22 April, we are raising funds for the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation. Your support will help honour Stephen’s legacy and continue the vital work of promoting racial justice, equality, and opportunity for young people across the UK.
As part of this campaign, we’re hosting a 5k reflective walk in Heaton Park, Manchester. It will be a moment for staff, clergy, parishioners, families, and local communities to come together in solidarity—remembering Stephen, reflecting on justice, and walking together in hope.
We’re also partnering with local churches to help even more people take part. If you’d like to join the walk, please register via our Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1984461721429?aff=oddtdtcreator
All funds raised will go directly to the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation. Whether you can give a little or a lot, your generosity helps fuel a movement grounded in justice, dignity, and lasting change.
Thank you for standing with us.
