Jack is a 17 year old boy with uncontrollably epilepsy, autism, selective mutism and depression. Jack is currently at an elevated risk of SUDEP, SUDEP is also known as the following; sudden, unexpected death of someone with epilepsy, who is otherwise healthy. This is the leading cause of death in people with uncontrolled seizures.
Jack has had seizures in the past that have lasted over six minutes, he has also had a number of seizures that have caused his oxygen levels to remain low, thereby meaning a stay in hospital overnight. Over the past year we have been in hospital due to the seizures causing after effects with Jack's health. In addition to Jack's epilepsy Jack has generalised anxiety disorder, this has effectively affected his mental health and how he perceives his epilepsy.
