Story
I’m raising money for It’s Never You, a charity that supports parents of seriously ill children from diagnosis and throughout treatment, offering practical help, emotional support, and connection when families need it most.
I’ll be riding over 700 miles through the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, the Pennines as well various major cities on my Raleigh Chilton — a completely inappropriate 35 year old town bike that means the world to me.
It's the same bike I used to drop Raff and his brother to school on which they nicknamed 'Speedy'. I’ll be visiting every Test match cricket ground in the UK, grounds that Raff never got the chance to see, carrying his memory with me to places his journey didn’t reach.
I'm not a cyclist, the half mile school run is the furthest I've travelled until training began. It will be demanding and physical, but the miles aren’t the point. They represent a simple decision: to keep moving, to stay open to life, and to believe that light still exists.
This ride is about hope.
It’s for anyone who has felt despair and needed to believe that life can still be beautiful after the toughest of events.
Hope doesn’t remove the darkness. It’s being able to see that light still exists, and choosing to keep going.
This ride is for Raff.
And it’s for anyone who recognises themselves in this story.
If this resonates with you, you are very welcome to join me at any point on my ride.
Thank you for supporting, sharing, or donating. Every contribution helps carry this message of hope forward and supports this incredible charity.
