Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Hi, and thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

Over 7 unforgettable days, I took on the incredible challenge of completing 168 miles along the Pennine Way. It pushed me to my limits both physically and mentally, but step by step, I made it to the end.

I could never have done this alone. A huge part of this achievement is thanks to the amazing guidance and support of Ashley Beighton. His encouragement, knowledge, and steady presence made all the difference — without him, this journey simply wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you Ashley 🙏🏾.

From 14th to 21st September, I’ll be walking the Pennine Way from Edale to Alston. That’s approximately 182 miles in 7- 8 days-to raise money for two charities very close to my heart: the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK.

This walk is deeply personal. I lost my mum to heart failure three years ago. She was the heart of our family, and I think about her every day. My dad was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer, and has had a successful outcome from surgery. I’m so grateful he’s still with us. Supporting these two causes feels like the most fitting way to honour them both.

I’ve been inspired by some incredible people:

Dr Tim Secker, one of my besties, who completed the Winter Spine Race this January, covering the full Pennine Way in brutal conditions. Legendary performance!

And Ben Scurr, friend who runs his own personal training business, has helped me stay strong both physically and mentally over the last 12 years with his dedication and belief in people. Also, with some words of advice when I doubt myself in completing the 8 days - "if it was easy then what's the point" - agreed Ben.

And last but not least a special thank you to my spin class teacher, Kirsten Lyall, whose energy, encouragement, and belief gave me the motivation to take on the Pennine Way challenge in the first place. Her positivity has been a driving force from the very beginning.

This challenge is not going to be easy - averaging over 22 miles a day across some of the UK’s toughest terrain - but I’m ready to give it everything.

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF and Cancer Research can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.

Every step I take will be for my mum, my dad, and everyone else affected by heart disease or cancer.

Thanks!
