For the last three years, I have been proud to support a brave young boy and his family. Eight-year-old Elliot, from Glan Llyn in Newport, faces the daily challenges of living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a rare muscle-wasting disease that primarily affects boys. This condition is not only the most common but also the most severe form of muscular dystrophy. While there have been some promising advancements in research surrounding Duchenne, much work remains to be done, especially here in Wales where access to clinical trials isn't happening and standards of care need significant improvement.

On March 1st, I will be participating in the City of Newport Half Marathon and May 3rd the Vancouver Half Marathon to raise funds for "Elliot's Endeavours to End Duchenne." My goal is to raise £300 to support the charity that Elliot's family established to increase awareness about this condition and advocate for better resources and care for those affected by DMD.
