Building a plane a day in a game in memory of my brother Reggie

Emma Wood is raising money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices
In memory of Reggie Oswald

Build 1 plane a day for a week in Trailmakers

We care for children & young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambs, Essex, Norfolk & Suffolk and support their families. This can be at home, in hospital or at one of three hospices at Milton, The Treehouse and The Nook. We rely on voluntary donations for the majority of our income.

Story

Hello, my name is Ralph, I’m eleven and when I was seven, my brother Reggie passed away sadly at the age of nine months old. He still had a long life to live, but sadly that was taken by SPTAN1 (a genetic deletion). I’ve taken part in fundraisers before but this one’s a bit different because it’s one of my hobbies gaming! It’s a game called Trailmakers that I love to play, you can build anything your heart desire so it’s a bit like Minecraft. I’m going to build a plane every day for one week to try and raise money for EACH East Anglia’s Childrens Hospice. I take inspiration from books about aircraft, it can be tricky and quite complex to get the builds right as they need to be able to take off, fly and land. This can take hours!

The hospice is almost like a second home to me I spent over seven months there as a frequent visitor with my family. We’re good friends with all the staff and while he was alive they supported us so much with the care Reggie needed but also allowing us to be a family. They even arranged for us to have a family swim together in their hydrotherapy pool. After Reggie passed the support continued with counselling, memory days and sibling days. They are always there even now almost four years later.

I’ll upload the builds to my YouTube channel daily QR code to my channel can be found in the gallery or this is the link
