Story
Lying awake in bed on bonfire night in the UK, listening to the sounds of fireworks cracking the night air, I tried to imagine what it must feel like to be a child living through bombardment with real explosions getting closer & closer but found it to be impossible. We simply do not know what it feels like to live in constant fear for our lives, uncertain that we will awake the next morning or what it feels like to be displaced from our homes and constantly afraid. I thought of my own children asleep in their warm beds realising just how fortunate we are living in the safe suburbs of Leeds.
Alongside the urgent need for the basic necessities of life; water, food, clothing & shelter children in conflict suffer life changing trauma that must have an enormous impact on their mental health.
I've been wanting to do something for a long time but found it really difficult to find a way through all the division and polarisation we are currently living through.
So, I started researching in earnest for an independent charitable organisation that focused first & foremost on children caught up in conflict with a combined emergency aid & long term psychological support approach. And I found War Child.
War Child is striving for a world in which no child's life is torn apart by war. They protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living in war zones.
By making a donation, you will be making a difference to thousands of children whose lives have been turned upside-down by conflict. You’ll help War Child provide the emergency care and support they need to overcome the emotional and physical toll of conflict, as well as access to services to catch up on lost education that will help to transform their futures for the better.
On Friday February 20th 2026 I am going to attempt to DJ non stop for 20 Hours 20 Minutes only playing music released on 20/20 Vision Recordings. The event will be live streamed and recorded so we can verify. Please understand that this is a totally new challenge for me and over three times longer than I have ever played music before.
You can trust that I will endeavour to complete the marathon DJ session but there is always a chance I won't make it. In that case your donation will still be absolutely secure and all funds will be distributed directly to War Child by Just Giving.
