Story
I’m excited to share that I will be participating in the Great North Run 2025 to support PAPYRUS, a vital charity dedicated to preventing young suicide. This cause is deeply personal to me, as I lost a dear friend to suicide this time last year. The impact of that tragedy was profound, leaving everyone in a state of shock and sorrow.
I have wanted to find a way to honour Dan’s memory for a long time and I think this is fitting. I am by no means a runner but I’m determined just to do it for him. Dan had a determination for a lot of things such as teaching himself guitar and building things from wood. I’ll certainly be channeling his strong will and spirit throughout training and the run itself.
Through my participation in this half-marathon, I aim to raise awareness and reduce the number of individuals who face internal hardships alone. It is my hope that by supporting PAPYRUS, we can help those who are struggling during their darkest moments and provide comfort to those affected by grief. Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people under 35 in the UK, with over 1,800 young lives lost each year. PAPYRUS offers confidential support through their helpline, HOPELINE247, ensuring that no one has to navigate these challenges alone.
Every £10 raised can facilitate a life-saving contact through HOPELINE247. I am setting a target of £500 for this campaign, and your generous donations will truly make a difference in changing lives. Thank you for your support as we work together to create hope and save lives.
This one’s for you mate.
