Isle of Wight Randonnee · 4 May 2025

WOMA is a charitable trust with a clear focus, made up of a small team with experience of working in Africa. Our aim is to help women across Africa who have been widowed or disadvantaged through war, famine or hiv/aids. We give small educational/training grants to individual women in order to help them gain skills that will help them support themselves and their families. Even the most modest donation can help lift them out of poverty and give them a real chance to fend for themselves.

Story

Here we go again! Raising money for WOMA a small charity founded by my aunt, Nora, 20 years ago which helps women and girls whose lives have been severely impacted by HIV/AIDS. In this anniversary year WOMA is trying to establish a sewing workshop which will be a safe space where the women can work when they've finished their training. You can read more about the work WOMA is doing here. www.womatrust.org

We are carrying on the cycling tradition started by Nora's late husband, Peter, and are joined by 2 first timers this year. Mat and Nick are coming to experience the fun and aching muscles!

Ioan has a cricket match so is staying home which means James is back on the 100km route for the first time in a few years. I’m sure he’ll whizz round no problem 🤔😁

We have actually invested in some second hand road bikes after about a decade of doing this so I’m assuming we’ll be done in a couple of hours this time. 🤨
