Story
Thank you for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation, and I would be incredibly grateful for your support.
On 13 September 2025, I’ll be walking 25 km across London’s iconic Thames bridges in memory of my father Geoff Rands — a decorated police Sergeant who spent nearly four decades protecting his community.

Dad passed away in April 2025, just shy of his 80th birthday. I often find myself reflecting on the moments that were lost; if he'd had just one more month, he would have witnessed his eldest granddaughter’s first driving lesson. Two more months would have meant celebrating his 80th birthday together. In a year and a half, he would have seen his eldest grandson graduate from university — a moment he longed to witness.

When we lose someone we love, we always wish for just one more day with them. While nobody can give back that extra time, together we can help provide other families with those precious moments.

Heart and circulatory diseases are responsible for one in four deaths in the UK — over 150,000 lives lost each year. Since 2019, deaths from heart disease among working-age adults have risen by 18%. Heart failure diagnoses are up by 21%, and over 7.6 million people in the UK are now living with heart or circulatory diseases. Your donation supports life-saving research into prevention, treatment, and early diagnosis, helping ensure families can hold on to their loved ones for all of those precious extra days.
I’m taking on the Thames Bridges Trek — a challenging yet rewarding walk from Putney Bridge to Southwark Park, crossing 16 historic bridges including the Millennium, London, and Tower Bridges. What better way to honour a true born East End Londoner? We start mid-morning and have up to seven hours to complete this meaningful route.
Your support matters immensely:
- £10 could fund research into improved emergency diagnostics.
- £25 supports vital studies aimed at reducing hospital waiting times.
- £50+ helps fund campaigns to fight inequalities and improve access to care.
The British Heart Foundation has played a crucial role in halving the number of people dying from heart and circulatory diseases in the UK; however, every day hundreds of lives are still lost. Together, let’s change these numbers so that more families can share precious moments with their loved ones.

Thank you for considering supporting this important cause.
