Tideway Dinghy Derby

Ranelagh Sailing Club is raising money for Scaramouche Sailing Trust

Thames Tideway Dinghy Derby · 20 June 2026

We fund the trailblazing Greig City Academy: The UK’s only inner-city school sailing programme competing at national level. This programme transforms the lives of inner-city London students. They were the first state school to do the Fastnet race & the youngest on the Round the Island.

Story

On 20th June, Ranelagh Sailing Club is organising a sailing race for 80 boats from Putney Embankment to 'Big Ben and Back'. It is going to be quite a spectacle!.

The race will be celebrating the opening of London’s 'super sewer' which is designed to protect the Thames Tideway from sewage pollution and create a healthier river environment.

To celebrate cleaner water for recreational use, we have been working with the Port of London Authority who have agreed a partial river closure for the duration of the race.

We are looking for private donations and corporate sponsorship to support Scaramouche Sailing Trust that creates life-changing opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds through the power of sailing. The charity does an incredible job of:

- Showing what is possible for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, to change their outcomes at school and in life, though sailing.

- Providing sail training, mentoring, and life-skills development (confidence, teamwork, responsibility)

- Providing logistic and pastoral support so students can train and compete in national sailing events

- Promotes diversity and inclusion in the sailing world and beyond

Please contact us directly with any questions around corporate sponsorship (donations) and entry since the private boat entry is now full.
