Beatson Cancer Charity supports people affected by cancer, every step of the way. We make the journey easier by transforming the way cancer care is funded and delivered. We provide services, as well as funding specialists, research and education to invest in a better future for cancer patients.

Story

Hello,

I’m Rashid, 52 and never danced in my life other than in a nightclub 🤣. Recently I was asked to compete in a Charity Strictly Come Dancing competition. Way out my comfort zone, but thought it might be a laugh so said yes.

I will be in one of the 6 groups of novices competing to win the glitter-heart trophy. My group are from all walks of life so we are called The Mixed Up Mambos. This is a massive challenge for us but thanks to the hard work of Donna, our choreographer, we are getting our heads around the routine & steadily improving. We will learn the dance over 40 plus hours of rehearsals to get ready to perform to an audience of over 500. 😬😬😬

All of this hard work is to raise funds for a local Charity,The Beatson.

There are great charities out there but the statistic that 1 in 2 of us in Scotland will face a cancer diagnosis is often overlooked. The Beatson is a local lifeline offering amazing care and support to people with cancer when they need it most.

As an independent charity, it relies fully on the kindness and generosity of donations to continue this work. It directly funds the patient wellbeing centre and provides investment grants for life saving research.

Hopefully, we'll dance our way to raising lots of money for this fantastic local charity. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference. Thank you so much for your support. I need all the help I can get 😱
