The Cycle (formerly known as Sanitation First) is a not-for-profit organisation that has been working for over 20 years building safe, clean and sustainable eco-toilets, teaching period education and menstrual disorder programmes, and providing sustainable period products to communities in need.

Story

As a female-founded, female-led brand, the welfare of women resonates strongly with us at Rat & Boa.

In 2023, we started a partnership with The Cycle, a brilliant organisation committed to providing safe and sustainable WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) services and improved menstrual health education to communities in India - all of which are key to building gender equality.

We’ve decided to take on the challenge of climbing the three highest peaks in the UK in 24-hours to raise money for The Cycle’s Happy Periods Program. Please help us to support this incredibly important cause by donating. You can find out more about The Cycle’s work here - https://www.thecycle.world

This month, 1.8 billion people across the world will menstruate - nearly a quarter of the world’s population. But for millions of people, managing their period is an impossible struggle. Menstrual taboos, lack of toilets and little or no access to period products mean that, for many, periods spell disaster - holding them back from education, public life, and trapping them in a cycle of inequality.

The Cycle's award-winning Happy Periods Programme is a fully inclusive programme challenging menstrual taboos, providing sustainable period products and establishing excellent menstrual and sexual health literacy for vulnerable communities. By engaging with everyone, regardless of age or gender, their work transforms entire communities and creates environments where everyone can thrive.

With £25,000, The Cycle can bring their Happy Periods programme to an incredible 1000 people and help unleash the true power of women & girls.
