Story
In June this year I am taking on my biggest challenge to date. I am running a 100km Ultra Marathon in the Lake District for a Breast Cancer Now, a research & support charity in the UK 🩷
Every 10 minutes, someone hears the words “you have breast cancer”. That's why Breast Cancer Now are here. And always will be.
So why am I running for this charity? Unfortunately I have many friends who have battled against the beast that is breast cancer (and survived). I saw them struggle. I saw them fight. I saw how it took so much of their soul to keep on fighting. They came out victorious, but not without battle scars. But my Kween’s wear them well 🩷
This brings me to Katherine or GirlHucknall as I called her for years due to her social media handle 😂 I have known her since I started to run 9 years ago, one of my first running friends & some one who inspired me to run further and dream bigger 🩷
My 1st Ultra was the Peak District 52km. I really didn’t really believe in myself. But she did. A few days before my race, a package arrived. The most beautiful gift I think I’ve EVER received. A hand made crocheted blanket 🥹 I cried!! No one has ever been so thoughtful before!! 🥹 She’d spent hundreds of hours making this in secret! And now it became my virtual hug!!
It still travels with me where ever I go. Every single ultra I have done since, it’s what I wrap around me the night before.
The love and affection that was poured into something so beautiful … it makes me tearful even now 🩷
Katherine was diagnosed with Breast Cancer towards the end of last year and is about to start chemotherapy.
I can’t help her but I can raise funds for a charity that provides support and research to breast cancer patients.
Katherine… thank you for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself. I love you immensely. Go and beat it’s ass my beautiful friend 🩷
If you are still reading and have any spare pennies, please help me raise funds for this incredible cause as I take on The Lake District 100km in June this year!! I’ve never run this far… and I don’t know if I can, but I will give it my very best shot 🩷
I love you guys. Huge love and thanks xxxx
