Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.
At just 15 months old, our son, Roman Tank, has been diagnosed with Glycogen Storage Disease Type III (GSD III), an extremely rare condition. Statistics indicate that out of 67 million people in the UK, only about 150 individuals are affected by this disease.
I am reaching out to raise awareness of GSD III among my family, friends, and colleagues. Your support is vital in our efforts to secure funding for research and a potential cure.
Increasing awareness and generating funding are critical steps toward better treatment options and ultimately finding a cure for this rare disease. Your involvement and contributions can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by GSD III. Thank you for your support.
Love Rav & Leanne Tank
GSDIIl:
Glucose is a crucial energy source for the body, stored as glycogen in the liver and muscles. Enzymes facilitate the release of glucose from glycogen as needed for activity and between meals.
Glycogen Storage Disease (GSD) is characterised by an inherited defect in one of these enzymes, impairing glycogen formation or glucose release. This condition can affect the liver, muscles, or both, leading to various health challenges. Diagnosis involves evaluating symptoms, conducting a physical examination, and performing biochemical tests.
AGSD-UK supports patients and families affected by all variants of GSD, providing resources and assistance to manage this condition. Your support is greatly appreciated in helping those impacted by GSD.
