Story
Why…
After a long struggle with her mental health, one of our Nottingham Lacrosse players Honor took her own life on the 25th November 2022. Honor was without doubt one of the most selfless people I’ve ever come across. Within our team we had an award called the MYT-B (Mighty Bee; which stood for ‘make your teammates better’), which Honor won consistently for her kindness, effort and selflessness. Despite her struggles Honor was a dedicated raiser of funds for charities supporting mental health; sharing her own story:
“This is an extremely important cause to me due to my own mental health struggles and those of people close to me. I’ve struggled with my mental health for a few years now but recently it has been more prevalent than ever. I was unsure of where to look for the support I needed and it took me a while to find it - at which point I needed to be hospitalised for 6 weeks in January to start recovery. I want to be open about my journey in order to help others know they’re not alone and where to look for support - something Mind is striving to do.”
What…
So… (I was planning on doing this on the anniversary, in November 2023), a little late but I’ll be doing a 24- hour echo bike for MIND charity…
For anyone that’s ever been on one of these bikes, even 20 minutes low intensity is pretty grim. The strength Honor showed is what will keep me going, what an absolute belter of a human.
Even the smallest donation goes along way, so please please please spare what you can. For anyone that wants to help during the day, even a phone call will help me stay awake.
