Honouring David’s lifelong love of Ben Rhydding Scouts and Hag Dyke.

David Hatfield passed away suddenly at home on Saturday 11 October 2025, aged 80.

A devoted husband to Julie, loving dad to Rachel, and father-in-law to Chris — known to many in Ben Rhydding as “the Hoover Man.” He spoke often and fondly of Ben Rhydding Scouts and Hag Dyke, the place and people that meant so much to him.

In lieu of flowers, we’re inviting donations to support the hostel and the next generation of young people finding adventure, friendship and confidence — just as David championed.
