Story
50,000 children are facing starvation.
The situation is heartbreaking—more than 465,000 children and 93,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women in northern Kenya are already acutely malnourished. Five consecutive failed rainy seasons have left families with nothing. Crops have withered, livestock has perished, and 1.8 million children are now facing acute malnutrition.
Amid this crisis, we are building a water well in honour of my dearest grandmother, Amirun Nessa, and my late grandfather, Shomuz Ali (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'oon). The Tana River has completely dried up, forcing young children and women to walk 40km just to reach water. This well will serve as a lifeline for thousands, providing clean, safe water to a village of 2,000 people.
"Indeed, those men and women who give in charity and lend to Allah a good loan will have it multiplied for them, and they will have an honourable reward." (Quran 57:18)
Hunger in Africa is at its worst level in 30 years. Almost 40% of the population—6.6 million people—are facing acute food insecurity, meaning they need food now to survive. Climate shocks, droughts, and rising food prices have devastated livelihoods, pushing communities to the brink of disaster.
💙 £100 can provide emergency food and water to an entire family in Kenya, including 60kg of rice, flour, sugar, oil, and milk powder. It can also contribute towards building our life-saving water well.
"Whoever saves the life of one, it is as if he saved the whole of mankind." (Quran 5:32)
