Story
I am running the Sefton Park Women’s 10k to raise vital funds for Love, Jasmine—a wonderful Liverpool charity that supports bereaved families—in loving memory of my beautiful son, Thomas.
In November 2022, our lives changed forever when Ted, Dewi, Evan, and I lost Thomas. He was just 13 years old. Thomas was our eldest child; he died when Evan was 11 and Dewi was only 7.
Thomas was first diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was just one year old. He underwent chemotherapy, two brain operations, and proton therapy in Oklahoma, USA through an NHS scheme. For ten stable years, he lived life to the full. He was a brilliant, inspiring boy who dreamed of becoming an architect and was the most wonderful big brother. Tragically, a second tumour appeared—a likely devastating side effect of the proton therapy that had initially saved his life. Despite further treatment, Thomas died at home, surrounded by his family. We miss him so much.
Love, Jasmine has helped us us over the last few years. They have supported our family through individual counselling and group sessions. Speaking to other parents who understand this devastating loss provides comfort that is hard to find elsewhere.
Right now, Love, Jasmine is facing significant funding cuts. They offer a vital service to local families when they need it most. I am running to help keep their doors open, and I am running for Thomas.
Thank you so much for any donation you can give.
