Rowan Empowering Women Network's fundraising for Prevent Breast Cancer's NBIA campaign.

Story

In a few weeks, I will be hiking the 3 peak

challenge in Yorkshire for a great charity ‘Prevent Breast Cancer’.

'I wanted to share with you why I am doing this. The cause resonates deeply with me because I firmly believe that prevention is a powerful mindset that can lead to better outcomes than cure.

Prevent Breast Cancer focuses not only on raising awareness about our genetic predispositions but also on empowering us to make informed lifestyle choices. I'm convinced that by paying attention to the quality of our diet, staying active, ensuring proper rest, and managing stress, we can significantly reduce the risk of breast cancer.

As I prepare to conquer the 3 Peaks, I am definitely a bit nervous [to say the least!]. I am unfit and scared of heights . Embarking on this journey is a step towards improving my own health and well-being. With a primarily office-based job, I've realised that there's room for positive changes in my lifestyle that align with Prevent Breast Cancer's mission.

Beyond the physical challenge of climbing, its a reminder of the proactive steps women can take to prevent breast cancer and how those steps apply to us all. By sharing my experience, I hope to inspire more conversations around prevention and health.

Thank you for your support, and I'll keep you all updated on my progress. Heres to embracing healthier lifestyles and contributing to a great cause.

Prevent Breast Cancer are addressing the serious workforce shortages within breast imaging. The challenges have led to delays in breast cancer diagnosis, closure of breast centres, and reduced recruitment to research studies. Together, the charities are launching a £3.5 million appeal for a new National Breast Imaging Academy, Build To Beat Breast Cancer.

The National Breast Imaging Academy will offer excellent workforce training facilities, enable an extra 13,000 patients be seen each year and offer additional capacity for research into breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Prevent Breast Cancer are incredibly grateful for Louise Stephenson and the team at Rowan's Empowering Women Event for their amazing support.
