Story
Dementia is incredibly devastating and can happen to anyone. Someone is developing dementia every three minutes - It comes in several forms and is the UKs biggest killer, with one in three people likely to develop the disease.
Becca Blackwell and Russ Wintle have first hand experience of loved ones who are living with/have succumbed to, Alzheimer’s, a form of dementia, and we wish to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Alzheimer’s Society provides support for people and families through their online communities and Dementia Support Line, as well as pushing the Government to address ongoing issues for people in care homes. They also fund vital ground-breaking research for treating and caring for people with dementia, investing over £15 million in the 2023/2024 financial year.
We are teaming up with Claire Calladine, a fundraiser who is aiming to raise £5,000 in her 50th year.
Claire is supporting Dementia UK and Reuben’s Retreat which offers emotional and practical support to families of child loss or children that may face an uncertain future.
As part of her fundraising, Claire has organised an event called “Fearless For Forget Me Nots” which will take place in Burton-On-Trent on 29th November 2025 and has kindly agreed that we can join her.
There, we will overcome our fears through challenging ourselves to:
• Break a wooden arrow with the soft part of our throat
• Walk barefoot over broken glass
• Walk barefoot over hot coals
All monies donated will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Thank you so much for your support!
