Story
Dementia is incredibly devastating and can happen to anyone. Someone is developing dementia every three minutes - It comes in several forms and is the UKs biggest killer, with one in three people likely to develop the disease.
Becca Blackwell and Russ Wintle have first hand experience of loved ones who are living with/have succumbed to, Alzheimer’s, a form of dementia, and we wish to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Alzheimer’s Society provides support for people and families through their online communities and Dementia Support Line, as well as pushing the Government to address ongoing issues for people in care homes. They also fund vital ground-breaking research for treating and caring for people with dementia, investing over £15 million in the 2023/2024 financial year.
As part of her fundraising, Russ has organised an event walking on hot coals and breaking an arrow with the soft part of his throat.
On 29th November 2025 Russ and I we will overcome our fears by challenging ourselves to take to the fast flowing, icy Dee River at Llangollen. We will learn how to manage a raft and navigate through the white water rapids.
All monies donated will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Thank you so much for your support!
