Story
After saying it would be one and done I am running the London Marathon again for the amazing TSA.
You’ll find some information below about the charity and what they do. The reason I am running for the TSA is because of Tommy.
Tommy was diagnosed with TSC at 6 months old. He was having infantile spasms (a rare type of seizure) which led to further investigations and a diagnosis of TSC2.
Tommy has benign tumours on his heart (which cause him no problems) his left eye, his brain and his skin. He has epilepsy, is autistic, has adhd and is currently in the process of getting a PICA diagnosis (he eats non edibles and I mean he eats everything). He is pre verbal and in nappies.
Tommy is now 7. He loves to explore, jump, rock, spin, splash and climb. He thinks everyone’s food is his food and that all the attention should be on him, all of the time. He also loves to give kisses and cuddles and makes great eye contact. He is very cheeky and everyone loves Tommy. He loves to relax in a sunny spot, this was once outside his headteachers office door and his teacher joined him. He is very lucky to go to a school that understands him and his needs. You can’t take your eyes off him for a moment.
Life is very challenging with a child that has complex needs but he has taught me so much. My world has changed and it isn’t all bad. I hate tuberous sclerosis but I’ll taking having tuberous sclerosis in my life because I get to be Tommy’s mummy. He somehow ages me and keeps me young at the same time.
Running a marathon is hard but Tommy does hard things every single day. I think about why I am doing this on every run. I would absolutely love to smash my £2000 target and hope you can help me by sparing a few pounds. It is all very much appreciated.
