Story
Hi! My name is Rebecca and I’m raising money for Down Syndrome Manchester. I have decided to do this because this incredible charity has supported my family in ways I will never forget.
When I was pregnant with my beautiful baby boy, Avery-Ray, I found out he would be born with Down syndrome. In that moment, I was overwhelmed with emotions — fear, confusion, and uncertainty — especially as I was given no guidance or support from the hospital. I didn’t know what Down syndrome truly meant, and I felt lost.
But once Avery-Ray arrived, I quickly learned something life-changing: life with Down syndrome is beautiful. My son has shown me joy, strength, and love in their purest forms. He is 12 months old now, and every single day he amazes me.
Down Syndrome Manchester has been a lifeline for us. They stepped in with the support, understanding, and community that we desperately needed.
They offer so much to families and individuals with Down syndrome — from practical help to emotional encouragement — and they do it with genuine warmth and kindness.
Raising money for this charity is my way of giving something back and helping ensure that other families receive the support we didn’t have at the beginning. They make a real difference, and I want to help them continue changing lives, just like they changed ours.
