Glencoe Marathon 2025 · 14 September 2025

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

On September 14th this year, Vicki, Simon Glazier, Sam Horrell, and I will be taking on the physical, mental, and emotional challenge of running the Glencoe Mountain Marathon in memory of Dan. As part of this journey, we’re raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK, a cause very close to our hearts.

Dan and I had originally signed up to run this marathon together—it would have been his first ever marathon. After his diagnosis, Dan passed his place on to Simon, for whom it will also be a first. Vicki and Sam (Skye’s boyfriend and a fellow marathon first-timer) later joined the effort, inspired by Dan’s memory and motivated to support this important cause.

Before Dan’s diagnosis, we had little understanding of just how aggressive and deadly pancreatic cancer is. In the UK, it’s the 10th most common cancer but the 5th deadliest. Tragically, 80% of people are diagnosed at stage 3 or 4, and over half lose their lives within three months of diagnosis.

Pancreatic Cancer UK works to change that. They’re driving breakthroughs through research, pushing for change through campaigning, and offering crucial support through their expert nurses.

We’re running this marathon to honour Dan’s memory and to help create a better future for others. Please support us in raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK. Every donation makes a difference.
