Story
I've always hated running, but I hate homelessness even more!!
After nearly 7 years away from regular running after my little girl, Ottie, was born, I realised I needed a challenge - and something I had to commit to - to get me back into my stride. Hence the Royal Parks Half!
Although previously running regularly, I never enjoyed it and always found it hard. I'm much slower these days (I can't believe I thought I was before...) but have actually come to appreciate it along the way rather than when it is over.
The hardship of a long run is also nothing compared to the hardship that many people in the UK suffer when they experience homelessness - something that is depressingly prevalent in the city I live and work in, and love.
Emmaus do incredible work supporting people across the UK to work their way out of homelessness, providing meaningful work experience, training, tailored one-to-one support, as well as a stable home for as long as someone needs it.
Giving people the tools to support themselves is the best way to tackle some of the root causes of homelessness, and I'd love you to give generously to support their work. I know it will keep me going in those tough last few km!
