Festive Chocolate Orange Covers - Becky's fundraiser for Level Water

Rebecca Dukes is raising money for Level Water
At Level Water, we use the power of swimming to improve lives for children with disabilities. Everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water.

Story

Festive Chocolate Orange Covers:

This year I am once again selling festive chocolate orange covers with all proceeds going to Level Water.

A little about Level Water:

‘We give children with disabilities the opportunity to learn to swim. From physical development to social and emotional confidence, swimming is a vehicle to change their lives for the better. To make this happen and create long lasting impact, we know it can’t be done in isolation.’

Learn to Swim - We provide 1-1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities across the UK. Our lessons give them the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water.

One of the instructors; Cheryl teaches swimming to 50 disabled children every week, including my nephew, Charlie.

On 27th September my nephew took part in a Swim at Lake 32:

The First Swims

At midday on Saturday, dark clouds threatened overhead, with forecasts predicting thunderstorms. But the skies held, letting only a few showers through. As always in the rain, the best place to be was in the water. Swimmers settled into a steady rhythm, handing over relay bands on the hour, every hour.

Among the highlights was Charlie’s incredible efforts. Not content with just one or two swims, he completed three – and wanted to keep going for a fourth. He left the lake smiling, shaking hands with everyone, and vowing to return next year. This year he also swam the Mini-Swoosh in July, his very first river swim. And he’s coming back in 2026 to do it all over again. His parents summed it up beautifully:

“It’s changed our lives being able to be part of communities like this. They are never invited, never included – and suddenly, now they can be like everyone else.”
