Story

Are you up for a great life experience! Come and support this much needed cause.

Dates are now the 3rd May with a drive to Fort William as a group, stay overnight and set off very early for the 24 hour challenge on the 4th . Return late 5th May . Becca, Vicky and Kay so far. More people are welcome to join. We have Ben and David joining us on Snowdon.

The Challenge: Moved to Spring 2024 due to increment weather on Ben Nevis with snow and avalanches March.

On the 3rd May we will be driving to Fort William in Scotland from Kidderminster Leisure Centre in a minibus and staying locally to Ben Nevis in a B&B or Travelodge/Premier Inn or similar. The following day we will leave early to scale Ben Nevis on the Mountain Track path and then onto Scafell Pike in the Lake District via the Brown Tongue from Wasdale. Then it’s straight down to Snowdon to complete the Llanberis path by the train line before a well-earned sleep in the minibus on the way back to Kidderminster. We have detailed maps for all three hikes.

Environment:

The weather will be checked two days before we depart from Kidderminster to ensure it is safe. We’ll check with the National Parks and Met Office. Should the weather conditions not be suitable we will undertake the challenge later in the Summer 2024.

Costs:

We would require you to kindly support with the costs of the minibus, fuel, your own accommodation for one night and your food. We will however endeavour to source a free minibus prior to the challenge. We have two excellent drivers who are willing to donate their time for free.

Equipment you will need:

Head night torches, warm clothes, worn in walking boots, energy foods and a willing spirit are essential. You will need about 8,000 calories over the 24 hour period. It goes without saying that you will need to be reasonably fit for this challenge.
