Story
#RunningForRupert
In 2026 I’m running for my friends son Rupert, and all of the other boys affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
DMD is a devastating muscle-wasting disease. Diagnosed in early childhood, it almost always affects boys. It is caused by the absence of a protein called dystrophin, which is essential for muscle protection and repair. Without dystrophin muscles break down over time, leading to progressive weakness and loss of movement. There are treatments to manage symptoms and slow progression but currently there is no cure.
Duchenne UK is the leading DMD charity in the UK: connecting researchers with industry, the NHS, and families to advance and accelerate treatments, provide support, and eventually find a cure.
Rupert and other affected boys can’t run so i’m doing 3 marathons to raise money and awareness in support for them.
