Story

I'm raising money for Deafblind UK running the Great North Run on Sunday 7th September 2025!

Thank you so much for visiting my justgiving page. I am running for this charity for the support they provided her. I went to school with Amy and her brother.

Amy was born with moderate to severe hearing loss. She was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Usher Syndrome at age 17.

Usher syndrome is a genetic condition that affects both hearing and vision.

Amy's sight has slowly been declining over the years.

She was finding it harder to get out and about and enjoy the things she loves.

Her sight began to affect her ability to socialise with her family and friends.

With the emotional and physical impact of her sight loss affecting her mental health, she contacted Deafblind UK for help. Counselling helped Amy come to terms with the emotional side of her sight loss and feel comfortable being open about her sight loss with her friends and family.

Due to the support and guidance Amy received she has become more confident and I want to support a charity that has helped Amy knowing it wil help other people like Amy.
