As many of you are aware, my lovely 11 year old niece Nancy was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer (osteosarcoma) last June. She has been on a gruelling journey of chemotherapy since last August and although the end is in site, she still has quite a way to go.

The treatment has been very difficult for Nancy and she has spent weeks on end at the Starlight Ward at Bristol Children’s Hospital. The staff on the ward are INCREDIBLE and often go way beyond their call of duty to support her. She has had dance parties with some nurses, Connect 4 tournaments, film watching and constant care and reassurance from the team. They rely a lot on charity donations for play equipment and to fund activities for the children as well as vital equipment.

On the 11th May, me and my 72 year old dad are going to run the Bristol Half Marathon and raise money for the Starlight Ward which Nancy has asked us to do 🥰.

Excitingly Suze (Nancy’s cousin) is riding from Lands End to John O Groats on the 4th of July and will also be raising money for the Starlight Appeal.

We have felt quite powerless over the past few months and it would be amazing to give something back to the hospital who have been and continue to be amazing for Nancy and her family.

I know many of you have given to Nancy’s fundraising page, but if you can spare a few pounds to go towards the ward, Nancy, me and my dad (Nick) and Suze would be extremely grateful. It will make all the miles we’re doing between us seem much more manageable!!!
