Story
Having abseiled down the Lloyd’s Building in 2024 I realised I still hadn’t overcome my fear of heights (something you’ll realise if you’re stuck behind me slowly walking down a staircase gripping the banister). I was researching other possible challenges and Kilimanjaro was something that was something I wanted to do but didn’t think I could. Then in December one of my lovely friends suggested trekking Kilimanjaro and I just could not say no, it was obviously meant to be. Within what seemed like days we had booked our trek.
I then had the opportunity to participate in Walking With The Wounded’s Cumbrian Challenge through with Cordwainers’ livery company and as a result of participating in this event I realised what a fantastic charity it is.
This year in anticipation of trekking Kilimanjaro with friends as well family I’ve hiked up Snowdon, Ben Nevis as well Box Hill and Seven Sisters. However, these are such small challenges compared with Kilimanjaro (it’s summit is higher than Everest’s base camp).
In a world filled with challenges, our veterans deserve unwavering support and this charity is here to provide mental health, employment and care coordination programmes to help them get back on their feet. Please join me in helping this charity to shape a future where veterans thrive and families flourish – honouring the past and empowering the present.
