This JustGiving page is used to fund the purchase of equipment and medication to meet the needs of IcFEM Dreamland Mission Hospital in Kenya. We are currently in urgent need of donations to keep our baby unit running. It costs £30 per baby per night, or £5,000 per month, to keep babies alive in the unit, and these costs are generally not covered by the new government scheme. We urgently need support. At present, we face the difficult choice of charging mothers for their babies’ care, turning sick babies away, or relying on fundraising. Our aim is to raise funds so these babies can receive the care they need and survive.

IcFEM DMH, originally called IcFEM Dreamland Medical Care Centre, was established in 1999. The ground floor of the Phase 1 new building opened in 2003, and Mission Hospital status was granted in 2012. DMH provides good quality care at affordable prices to the rural communities of the Mount Elgon and Bungoma areas of Western Kenya. IcFEM DMH aims to work alongside government hospitals to provide gap filling services for the healthcare needs of the community.

The hospital runs a comprehensive outpatient service, including 24 hour assessment by clinical officers, basic laboratory testing, a pharmacy, orthopaedics, physiotherapy, child welfare clinics, family planning, antenatal and postnatal care. DMH is staffed by more than 130 paid Kenyan clinical and support staff. The IcFEM motto, “Holy living and hard work”, underpins the core working principles of the team. Staff aim to give time and energy, skill and dedication to every patient, and to provide quality care to each individual.
