Arctic Challenge 2026 · 16 January 2026 to 23 January 2026 ·

The Arctic Challenge is a wilderness endurance challenge held over a long weekend, incorporating a dog sled race, hike, ice fishing, orienteering and woodland fire lighting.

Story

I am taking on the Arctic Challenge 💪❄️ The money I raise through this event will go entirely to the National Literacy Trust to help transform the lives of children in the most disadvantaged areas of the UK ❤️

Children from the poorest backgrounds shouldn't have their potential cut short before their lives have really begun.

On average, children from the poorest backgrounds start school 19 months behind their more privileged peers! Children without the expected level of literacy skills are held back at every stage of their lives. They are:

5️⃣x more likely to fail to meet the expected standards in English at age 11

4️⃣x more likely to be unemployed aged 34

3️⃣x more likely to have mental health problems as adults.

English and Maths from the foundation of education and are essential for navigating life beyond the classroom. Literacy is an incredibly powerful tool for communication and creativity. It is an art from and can be an outlet for many people, helping to improve mental health. Ensuring that every child has access to the right resources and opportunities to develop these skills is so important 📚✏️

The Arctic Challenge is an inspiring wilderness endurance challenge, incorporating activities like dog sledding, ice fishing and hiking 🏔️🎿🥶
